Driver Seriously Injured During Rollover Crash South of Bates City

BATES CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A 20-year-old driver was seriously injured during a rollover collision south of Bates City on Thanksgiving afternoon.

He Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that around 2:30 pm on Thursday, November 28, emergency crews were called to Route Z and Arey Rd., about 4 miles south of Bates City, for reports of a single-vehicle collision.

When first responders arrived, they said they found a 20-year-old Bates City man driving his 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 north on the highway when, for an unknown reason, the truck veered off the left side of the road.

State troopers noticed the driver overcorrected and the truck returned to the road before veering to the left side, hitting an embankment and overturning.

Emergency crews indicated that the driver, who was wearing a seat belt at the time, was taken to the Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The truck was destroyed during the accident. No further information has been released.
