Bombay High Court imposes costs of Rs 5 lakh on litigant for wasting more than two hours of court time

During the proceedings, the firm’s lawyer, Advocate Shrikrishna Ganbavle, argued for almost fifty minutes, attempting to establish a legal right over the land.

The Court noted that the litigant had previously failed to obtain an injunction in a civil suit, which sought to establish a tenant-landlord relationship, despite the clear terms of the expired license agreement.

The Court emphasized that the litigant’s attempts to enforce leasehold rights were baseless and amounted to harassment of the respondents, who were entitled to compensation through the land acquisition process.

The Suit, like the present Writ Petition, is filed by the petitioner with the sole intention of harassing the respondents Nos. 1 to 3 so that the respondents Nos. 1 to 3 (Minakshi Bagdum and family) do not receive the compensation for land acquisition through negotiation. “,” concluded the Court.
