1 dead, 1 injured in Chicago Lawn shooting

A man was killed and a woman was wounded in a shooting Friday night on Chicago Lawn.

They were on a sidewalk around 9:50 p.m. in the 6700 block of South Western Avenue when someone fired shots, hitting them both several times, Chicago police said.

Laquinton Wright, 33, was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

The woman, 30, was hospitalized in serious condition, police said. His name has not been revealed.

No arrests were reported.
