Houston Academy player seriously injured in team’s playoff win: Report

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -A Houston Academy football player suffered serious injuries in the team’s playoff victory Friday night.

Martin Andre, starting tackle and linebacker, collapsed as he came off the field in the third quarter and began grabbing, the Dothan Eagle reported.

The Eagle wrote that Raiders head coach Eddie Brundidge said Andre underwent surgery in Dothan shortly after his injury to relieve pressure on his brain, and that emergency crews would fly him to a hospital in Birmingham.

According to the MaxPreps website, Andrew played several Raider sports.

Houston Academy defeated Southside of Selma to advance to the 3A state championship.
