Lawsuit against DaBaby dismissed, again

Lawsuit against DaBaby dismissed, again

In May 2019, a heated fight occurred between rapper Don Trag and fellow rapper DaBaby’s security team that resulted in a five-year legal saga that played out in Massachusetts courts.

Trag had opened for DaBaby at Club Centro in Lawrence, according to previous Globe reporting. As DaBaby entered the club, Trag approached the artist to take a photo.

DaBaby’s security team quickly intervened and Trag swatted away a bodyguard’s hand, the Globe reported. A fight broke out and DaBaby’s performance was cancelled.

Trag sued DaBaby and others for serious injuries he suffered during an incident. Years passed during which Trag demonstrated a pattern of negligence toward the court case, according to an Oct. 30 court opinion filed by Associate Judge Elizabeth Dunigan of Essex County Superior Court.

Dunigan said Trag failed to take appropriate action, failed to meet hearing dates and failed to file necessary paperwork, all of which contributed to a lack of diligence in pursuing the case. Instead, he said DaBaby continued to defend the case and respond promptly.

At an Oct. 29 hearing, Trag appeared to regret missing a March 5 court date, but the court said that was not the only reason that led to his dismissal. In the Oct. 30 opinion, Dunigan upheld Associate Justice Kristen Buxton’s earlier dismissal of the case earlier this year.
